Basic steps to connect to your account.

For extensive instructions and tutorials on setting up smart ftp click here

For machintosh computers we recommend Fetch http://fetchsoftworks.com

Setting up Fetch.

Fetch should now be installed in the directory you specified on the hard drive. You can open Fetch by double-clicking on the Fetch icon. You may want to add an alias for Fetch to the Apple Menu or your desktop.

After opening Fetch, you will a screen much like the one displayed to the right. We are going to have to provide Fetch with some more information before it can connect to the server.

First, you'll need to click on the field that says Host. Once there, enter yourdomain.com into the field. This is the host name for your account on the ftp server.

Now that we have told Fetch where to connect to, we need to give it our identifying information. Enter your username and password into the appropriate fields (note that the password field will show bullets instead of actual alphanumeric characters for security reasons).

Finally, enter the starting directory if you wish. You home directory is the same name as your domain name, so you entered /wwwroot/yourdomain.com/www/. If you leave this blank, you'll start in your "Home" directory.

If you do not want to have to reenter this information each time you use Fetch, you can customize a shortcut. See the help in Fetch on "Bookmarks" and "Shortcuts -- but NEVER save a password on any computer other people can use -- the security of your account could be compromised!
